Group Football Editor Paddy Davitt has posted his marks following the Canaries’ 2-1 Premier League reverse at Watford.

Here is Paddy’s verdict on Daniel Farke’s men, who turned in a much more cohesive performance but were undone by Danny Welbeck’s stunning overhead kick finish.

• Tim Krul

Fine reaction stop with his legs to deny Christian Kabasele. But had to watch Welbeck’s bicycle kick fly into his top corner. 6

• Max Aarons

Brought a reaction stop out of Ben Foster in the second half. Weak clearance emphatically punished by Welbeck. 6

• Ben Godfrey

Aggressive in his defensive work. Composed on the ball. 7

• Timm Klose

Vocal leader. Good tussle with Troy Deeney. 6

• Jamal Lewis

Dismissively brushed aside by Craig Dawson to get the run on Alex Tettey for Brighton’s opener. Did clip in an inviting late cross that saw Adam Idah slide one past the post. 6

• Alex Tettey (C)

Pinned on his own line by the towering Dawson. Within seconds of his departure City were cut open for the winner through midfield. 6

• Mario Vrancic

Signalled his intent with a robust challenge inside the opening five minutes. Might have felt should have done better at the near post with a header from Emi Buendia’s free kick. Couple of probing link ups with Teemu Pukki. 6

• Emi Buendia

Had Foster scrambling with an early free kick. Then underlined his talent with an angled lash on his other foot into the opposite corner, for a first career goal in the Premier League. Skied over in the second half but prominent. 7

• Marco Stiepermann

Added aerial ballast and Teemu Pukki seemed to relish the return of his sparring partner. A few loose passes can be excused on grounds of inactivity. 6

• Onel Hernandez

Assist for Emi Buendia. Goalbound shot struck a Watford defender in the second half. Norwich need his dynamism right now to make things happen. 7

• Teemu Pukki

Dragged one shot wide on the half-turn. But far more involved in general play and looked to possess the energy and thrust seemingly lacking for too long. 6

City substitutes

• Kenny McLean 5

Poor attempt at interception on Sarr shortly after his arrival sparked Welbeck’s outrageous goal.

(for Alex Tettey, 54)

• Adam Idah 6

A heavier touch on his right and he would have had that elusive Premier League goal when he slid into the six yard box. Left his mark on some Watford defenders as well. Accidentally. But no bad thing.

(for Marco Stiepermann, 75)
