Danish Under-21 international Jacob Lungi Sörensen has agreed to join Norwich City.

The Canaries have concluded a deal with Esbjerg fB for the 22-year-old midfielder, who will be a part of Daniel Farke’s first team squad for the new campaign.

Danish sports magazine, Tipsbladet, reported on Friday night Sörensen will head to England for an undisclosed fee, joining the likes of Sam McCallum, Melvin Sitti and Danel Sinani as part of a squad overhaul at Carrow Road.

City’s relegation from the Premier League is expected to be confirmed in the coming days, but the club’s planning to refresh Farke’s squad continues apace.

Sörensen is the first of an expected quartet of new faces poised to link up with the Canaries in the next week - in addition to the trio of previous signings pictured training with the club’s development squad at Colney in recent days.

Farke, speaking ahead of West Ham’s Premier League visit on Friday afternoon, confirmed Sinani, McCallum and Sitti are not part of his first team plans for the remainder of this campaign.

“We didn’t want to waste the opportunity to bring in this fresh blood too early. Of course, their seasons have been done for a while so they can’t just sit around for five months without any training or any football,” he said. “That is why we brought them in and they have a chance to work a bit on their fitness, the adapt to the facilities, to the city and they find somewhere to live.

“For Melvin Sitti he can learn the language, he has to improve a little bit. That is natural. It won’t help the group right now. But we have an unbelievably short break and pre-season.

“I don’t want to put too much expectation on these boys. We have brought in players from the second tier in France, the Luxembourg league and lower down in this country.

“Some lads who have unbelievable potential but they won’t be able to replace a top class player immediately. We will give them time and not put too much pressure on them or expect miracles.”
