Head coach Daniel Farke confirmed on Friday afternoon the big centre back suffered an ankle knock in training on Thursday and is unlikely to feature at Hillsborough.

Mario Vrancic (groin) is definitely ruled out and Alex Tettey has had an injection in his knee that will rule him out of the season finale.

Tettey signed a new two year deal to stay at Carrow Road earlier in the week but Farke wants him fit and firing for pre-season.

“Alex is pretty tired and because he was going to have an injection in his knee at the end of the season, we’ve decided to bring that forward and do it this week so he won’t travel with us on Sunday,” said Farke.

“He could have played if it was like a World Cup final, but we decided in order to get his pre-season a week ahead to do the injection this week. It buys us one week more with his knee and his body.

“It’s a bit doubtful if Grant is able to play. He was hit with a tackle in training and his ankle was swollen, so we’ll take a late decision on him. He wasn’t able to train today. At the moment he’s 50-50.

“We have to do without Mario Vrancic because after the session yesterday he felt some pain in his groin. It’s not too bad, just a little strain but he won’t travel with us.

“He’s played many minutes in recent weeks, and he’s developed so much and has become crucial for our game. We want to make sure he’s fine for pre-season. That is the most important thin.”

Harrison Reed got the nod again in favour of Ivo Pinto at right back but the likes of Reed, Angus Gunn and Moritz Leitner will return to their parent clubs after the final game of this seaason.

Louis Thompson is targeting a return to full training in pre-season after two Achilles injuries.

“Yes, we won’t take any risks with a player who has been out nearly two years but it seems pretty good,” said Farke. “It appears he will be able to start in the pre-season and it will be important for him to play some friendly games.”
