Alex Pritchard will complete his move to Huddersfield Town on Friday.
Norwich City have opted to cash in on the attacking midfielder, after the 24-year-old made it clear he was desperate for a crack at the Premier League.
Terriers' chief David Wagner confirmed on Thursday the deal was in its advanced stages, but insisted Huddersfield had not paid over the odds, with the German adamant reports of a £12m-plus fee were wide of the mark.
Norwich paid £5m to Tottenham to recruit the midfielder in August 2016, with none of the potential clauses activated in the original deal which could have seen that transfer eventually rise to £8m.
City have inserted a number of potential add ons into the Huddersfield deal - including a payment should the Terriers retain their Premier League status over the coming months.
Pritchard's first club, Spurs, will be due a sell-on fee - tied to a proportion of the profit now heading to Carrow Road - for a player who notched eight goals and created 11 assists in 43 City appearances.
Pritchard underwent a medical in Yorkshire and finalised personal terms on Thursday, and Wagner hinted he could go straight into the Terriers' squad for this weekend's home game against West Ham.
'I can tell you the figures (quoted) are not right. We will not speak about the figures, but everybody knows we will not over pay,' he said. 'We are Huddersfield Town and we know exactly what we are able to do.
'I am German, so everything in England is expensive when we speak about transfer fees.
'We will see if there is a chance before Saturday (he can play) – it could be or it couldn't be, either could be the case.'

City's top brass and sporting director Stuart Webber had made it clear Daniel Farke was under no financial pressure to offload his top talent in the January window.
Yet Pritchard's pending departure will now raise fears amongst many Norwich supporters the likes of James Maddison and Nelson Oliveira could be targeted during this month.
Norwich rebuffed Huddersfield's initial interest, after the Terriers made a derisory £5m enquiry, but Wagner made it clear earlier this week Pritchard was his prime target in the January transfer window.
