Norwich City’s big night may have ended in a 4-1 loss at Liverpool but Daniel Farke’s players have acknowledged the excellent support shown to them by almost 3,000 travelling fans at Anfield.

The Canaries were 4-0 down at half-time against the European champions as they returned to the Premier League, after a cruel slice into his own net from Grant Hanley in just the seventh minute and an unfortunate deflection off Tom Trybull ahead of Mo Salah making it 2-0.

It could have all turned into a nightmare evening but thanks to a Teemu Pukki striker midway through the second half, teed up by a fine Emi Buendia through-ball, City ended up reducing the deficit to 4-1 by full-time.

That was recognised by a fine reception from the away fans after the final whistle, many of whom had endured a journey of over seven hours to Anfield, with some of the official club coaches delayed in traffic and only arriving around 30 minutes before kick-off.
