Norwich City may be struggling to score but Russell Martin was delighted to break his drought against some familiar faces in Rangers' 2-0 Scottish Premiership win over Hearts.

City's on-loan defender sealed the win at Ibrox, as the Canaries were toiling to a 0-0 Championship point against Bolton.

Martin also earned the bragging rights against the Edinburgh club who featured past and present Norwich team mates Kyle Lafferty and Steven Naismith in their ranks.

'My last goal was April last year (7-1 win over Reading) so maybe that's why I went a bit mad in the celebration,' said Martin.

'That one was a tap in from a yard with my left foot as well. I don't know where the knee-slide came from but they're killing me now.

'To score my first goal for this club would have been great against anyone but it was good to catch up with Kyle and Steven who are good lads.

'It's a bit easier when you've won the game.

'They wouldn't have enjoyed their return here but they'll move on.

'Steven nearly scored from one of my clearances.

'I was trying to knock him and the ball into row Z and luckily it rebounded beyond the goal. Thank God he didn't score.'

Naismith got a predictably hostile reception back at Ibrox for the first time since leaving when the former set-up ran into financial problems.

'I probably expected it,' he told the Glasgow Evening Times. 'It wasn't the first time I've been booed and jeered for every touch in a stadium, or when I'm out and about, so it was no different.

'I had the wife and kids shouting and bawling at me all week.

'To be honest, it didn't matter at all.

'You get used to it and the guys who retaliate are probably the ones it gets to, but I don't bother.

'It was disappointing, especially for the younger boys. I remember when I first starting out at Kilmarnock and going there - it is a daunting place and you want to Rangers on the back foot and get into the game but we never really got that.

'For us, in possession we weren't really good enough all day and that gave Rangers a lift and they had wave after wave of attack at points in the game.'

• Another of City's loan contingent, Todd Cantwell, had a memorable weekend with his first professional goal on loan at Dutch second division club Fortuna Sittard.

The attacking midfielder opened the scoring in Friday's game at NEC but Arnaut Groeneveld equalised for the hosts.
