Group Football Editor Paddy Davitt has posted his marks following the Canaries’ 4-1 Premier League loss against Liverpool
Here is Paddy's verdict on Daniel Farke's troops, who will not wish to repeat a nightmare first half defensive showing at Anfield but proved after the break they can trouble the best in the Premier League.
- Tim Krul
Badly exposed by the men in front. But three top drawer saves. The pick to foil Jordan Henderson just after half-time. 8
- Max Aarons
Serious operator to subdue in Divock Origi. Allowed him to cross for the opening own goal. Then slow to track a run inside to glance home Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross. Recovered his poise in the second half, but a learning curve. 6
- Grant Hanley
Needed a big statement and a sliced finish past his own keeper seven minutes in was not the message he wanted to deliver. Touch fortunate not to escape a booking late on for hauling down Roberto Firmino. 5
- Ben Godfrey
Must take his share of collective responsibility for first half implosion but carried the fight in the second half. Aggressive intent and fearless defensive work. Tested Adrian in stoppage time. 7
- Jamal Lewis
Tracked Virgil van Dijk from the moment he attacked Mo Salah's corner to the point where he was shrugged off far too easily as the Dutchman headed home from close range. A touch more unfortunate with a deflection that eventually spiralled to Salah to score. 5
- Tom Trybull
Appeared to suffer cramp that led to his second half exit. Looked anything but up to speed in the opening period to cope with the pace and intensity of a top end Premier League side. Typified by Salah's second goal when he was unable to get back goalside quick enough. 5
- Kenny McLean
Game largely passed him by. Thankless task trying to stem the red arrows in that first half. 5
- Emi Buendia
Slimmer rations than last season but still an exquisite assist for Teemu Pukki's goal. Did not look out of place at this level but City will demand more because he more than capable. 7
- Marco Stiepermann
Not his night. Two wayward early efforts may have altered the dynamic. Did eventually test Alisson but on the periphery thereafter. 6
- Todd Cantwell
Big vote of confidence from his head coach, who felt he was City's best outfield player prior to the interval. Could have done better to track the initial run of Alexander-Arnold for the second home goal. Clubbed a swinging shot over. 6
- Teemu Pukki
Could be a big goal in the bigger picture. Cool and composed finish. In contrast to a couple of snatched first half efforts that continued a pre-season theme. Just looks a player still in the process of edging towards the razor-sharp predator who cut a dash through the Championship. 7
City substitutes
- Moritz Leitner 7
Booked within a minute of coming on. Then slammed a shot against the bar and picked out Onel Hernandez with a superb pass. Looked far more effective than either Tom Trybull or Kenny McLean.
(for Marco Stiepermann, 58)
- Onel Hernandez 6
Dragged a shot at Adrian.
(for Tom Trybull, 70)
- Josip Drmic n/a
(for Teemu Pukki, 83)
