Daniel Farke warned Norwich City to cut out the naivety after a 4-1 Premier League defeat on Friday night to Liverpool.

The Canaries carved out a number of chances, and Teemu Pukki grabbed a goal back in the second half, but the damage was already done following a calamitous opening period.

Grant Hanley sliced a cross into his own goal before Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Divock Origi punished defensive lapses at Anfield.

"In general we are so disappointed we lost this game," said Farke. "We wanted to be the first team to win here in two-and-a-half years. We were greedy to do this. But there are many positive things to take.

"If you are 5-1 up on shots in the first 20 minutes and you find yourself 2-0 down that is tough to take. The first goal, of course, was a bad situation. But we had two good chances before that with Marco Stiepermann. We then score an own goal, the second goal comes following three deflections and the ball lands at the feet of Mo Salah and he is a world class finisher.

"Yes, I would have preferred to defend the third and fourth goals a bit more physically. That was a little naïve. If I am really honest it is not that easy to defend Virgil van Dijk in the air or Divock Origi in the air. But those goals were not necessary.

"We have played a side who beat Barcelona here 4-0, who are unbeaten at home in the league for two years and more and in my opinion are the best team in the world right now. When you have a start like we did, then of course it is going to be difficult for Norwich City to win here."

Farke is confident his side showed in the second half they are fast learners.

"There are many positive things to take. When you are 4-0 down in front of an excited home crowd at Anfield to go back out and win the second half, okay maybe a bit lucky, but that is quite crucial," he said.

"I know no-one wants to speak about it now after this result but in that first half we had nearly the same possession, we had more chances and more shots but the reality is they had four shots on our goal and were 4-0 up at half-time.

"That is unbelievably unlucky. Our performance deserved much more and we were not too far away from a good result at Anfield. We will speak about the lessons we need to learn but I honestly believe there are more positives to take."
