Norwich City's lack of killer instinct in either box frustrated Daniel Farke in a 1-0 Championship loss at Leeds United.

Farke revealed he had tweaked City's zonal approach to defending set pieces to thwart Pontus Jansson but the Whites' defender was still left unattended to glance home a first half free kick.

Norwich carved out a number of chances at Elland Road but return to Norfolk pointless.

'Disappointing,' said Farke. 'We all got the feeling from this tough away game at Leeds we have to travel home with some points.

'It is frustrating to go home with nothing. We switched to man-to-man marking today because we know Pontus Jansson is probably their biggest threat and so hard to defend against. We got the feeling because he was such a big threat we had to go man-to-man.

'Most situations we did but for one situation he scores nine metres out running away from the goal.

'It was a brilliant, clinical header but we can defend this situation with our individual behaviour a bit better. To concede such a determining goal is pretty hard to accept.

'I got the feeling it was a good away performance, a close game. In many periods we were the dominating team. Alex Pritchard had two good shooting situations, James Maddison was in the box and could not find the finish.

'Nelson Oliveira brought a good save from the keeper and then James fired over.

'In addition, I have seen it back now and there was a clear penalty on Nelson in the 45th minute. Ivo Pinto was crossing and Nelson was in a much better position than the defender. It was a clear foul but we can't influence that decision.

'If I was to criticise anything it is we have to be more effective.

'We couldn't create many more chances against a team at this level. We had two or three big situations before half-time and we couldn't find a goal.'
