Norwich City have NOT received a £12m bid from West Ham for James Maddison.

National media reports on Thursday night claimed Hammers' chief David Moyes had stepped up his interest in the Canaries' prized asset with a firm bid.

City have had no contact from the East Londoners, and the club's top brass remain intent on keeping hold of the England U21 starlet ahead of next week's transfer deadline.

Maddison's stellar Championship season under Daniel Farke has seen him touted with a Premier League move for weeks.

Champions-elect Manchester City had been linked along with long term suitors Tottenham and Liverpool, who both missed out when the Canaries swooped in January 2016.

Pep Guardiola's club is believed to have watched Maddison in last week's FA Cup replay at Stamford Bridge, where Moyes was also in attendance.

Norwich granted Alex Pritchard his wish to seal a Premier League move to Huddersfield Town earlier this month, but it would take a mega-money offer far in excess of £12m to consider offloading Maddison over the coming days.

Farke can expect to be pressed on the latest reports on Friday lunchtime at his preview press conference ahead of the Championship trip to Brentford.

Maddison, who is under contract at Carrow Road until at least 2021, has been a revelation under the German's guidance this season.

The Coventry-bred midfielder has so far scored eight times and provided numerous assists in a breakthrough campaign for Norwich that earned a first call up to the Young Lions.

Maddison is also a cult figure with the City support, and etched his name into derby folklore with the winner to sink Ipswich Town at Portman Road back in October.
