Daniel Farke knows what happens with Wes Hoolahan and Norwich City is a big deal over the coming days.

Hoolahan's current contract runs out in the summer and Farke knows there would be a groundswell of support keen to give him a proper send-off in next weekend's Championship home finale against Leeds United - should this prove to be his swansong.

The club reiterated over Easter they plan to recognise Hoolahan's decade of service in fitting style, but it is the ex-Republic of Ireland international's immediate future that is of more pressing concern.

'He is a legend now and will be a bigger one in the future,' said the City head coach.

'I am full of respect for him and he can still influence games, whether it is as a substitute or in the starting line-up.

'When we had this brilliant away win at Ipswich earlier in the season he was crucial.

'No decision has been made.

'It is quite obvious that will have to happen soon, for all the players out of contract.

'There must be a decision in the next days and weeks and when we reach a decision it is finding the right time to announce it.

'When you have a club legend like Wes Hoolahan it is not just what our thoughts are but when he wants and what he decides.

'There is a lot of trust and honesty on both sides.

'It is more a topic for Stuart (Webber) and the club but for me Wes has had an outstanding career.'

Marley Watkins is under a longer-term contract but that has not stopped fresh speculation linking him with Bristol City, who were reportedly keen on a January move.

'I trust all the players who are here,' said Farke.

'I know there is speculation and in some cases perhaps a lot of talk about big clubs coming for my players. We know Marley can show more than he did, compared to last season at Barnsley when he was there with double figures for assists and scoring.

'Right now, we are not so happy with his season and he is not happy himself with his season.

'We still believe Marley is a good player who can develop and he is important to my plans.

'Listen, you never know what can happen in the transfer window.

'There could be a really good bid for him and a situation where the club perhaps needs a fee.

'Then it can always be possible we lose a player but in general we signed Marley because he had proved he can play on this level and I am sure he will be motivated to have a better second season.'
