Daniel Farke admitted Fulham's ruthless edge was the difference between the sides in Norwich City's 2-0 Championship defeat.

Stefan Johansen and Tom Cairney cashed in during a four-minute burst in the second period but the Canaries had enough chances to have ended the promotion-chasing Cottagers' 16-match unbeaten run.

'We were able to prove once again we can play on this top level but compliments to Fulham. They were more clinical,' he said. 'In general, the first 15 minutes we were struggling a bit because we changed our pressing behaviour for this game and we had to adapt to that.

'Fulham were there with more possession without creating any real chances.

'Then after that we were not just on the same level for me, we were the better side. Look at all the statistics, we won more duels. We had more shots on target, more chances.

'All in all, a game with two really good sides. But we have mentioned before, football is not fair and we were not able to score the first goal.

'Fulham were better in this topic. They had three situations the whole game.

'Angus (Gunn) came out of his goal too early and Christoph (Zimmermann) was able to block the shot. The other two they score.

'Then it is difficult because Fulham is the best side in the league right now. They will be promoted. I am pretty sure. I was happy with our performance.'

Farke opted not to apportion blame in the direction of Timm Klose, who was heavily involved in both Fulham goals.

'It was not easy to defend. We didn't track a run from midfield on two occasions,' said Farke.

'Timm had to focus on the runner and in this situation (Aleksandar) Mitrovic pulled away from him to get the header. It is no coincidence with eight goals in 10 games he made the perfect decision on the last post. Angus kept it out but it was unlucky the second ball was closer to the Fulham player than Alex Tettey.

'The second goal, we didn't save the counter but again the cross comes to Timm and instead of clearing it like he normally does it goes directly to the Fulham player.

'We could defend better but they were not big mistakes for me. It was more about the quality of Fulham.'
