Jordan Rhodes underlined why he is the best finisher in the Championship for Daniel Farke after his hat-trick fired Norwich City to a 4-3 League Cup win on Tuesday night at Wycombe Wanderers.

Rhodes grabbed his chance with Teemu Pukki rested, after his own prolific start to the season, and the Sheffield Wednesday loanee delivered to seal a place in the fourth round.

'I don't know any striker who is a better finisher in the Championship, perhaps Teemu, but he was outstanding,' said Farke. 'He deserves that. I praised Jordan in the last couple of weeks and even if he didn't score in this game I would still praise him. He has an unbelievable attitude. We felt this would be his type of game because we would be pretty close to the box of the opponent.

'In those situations he is outstanding, in terms of his finishing.

'It's not a headache. I know whoever plays we will get good performances and with Dennis Srbeny in my opinion we have three good strikers. There will be periods when they struggle but I trust these lads..'

Farke admitted City made hard work of getting past the plucky League One side after racing into a 4-1 lead.

'In the end it was a bit too complicated than we expected after half-time. We are happy to be in the next round,' he said. 'Our attacking play was brilliant. We could have scored more.

'Jordan had a goal disallowed for no reason. But you must praise Wycombe. They were brave and rebellious and tried everything with a great heart, big attitude and big energy. We still had to defend in the last 10 minutes.

'In the first half we should be 4-0 up. Jordan was denied by the referee another goal and he was the only one who saw a handball when it was in the middle of his chest. Then before their first goal it was definitely a foul on Ben Godfrey.

'He is sitting there with a cut on his head in the changing room from (Craig) Mackail-Smith's high boot. Then the penalty, for me, never a penalty. Ben reacted to make a challenge and the referee sees something else.

'Maybe it is 4-1 and he has some sympathy with the underdog. But anything can happen.

'They score a third and I was annoyed with this situation and then they bring in (Adebayo) Akinfenwa but well done to my lads. We are happy.'
