Norwich City will not hit the January sales to solve the Canaries' goal drought.

Nelson Oliveira is pushing to return from his on-going fitness issues after the international break to ease the burden on lone frontman Cameron Jerome.

The experienced striker has scored twice in 15 appearances this season, but head coach Daniel Farke insists the answer lies within his current squad.

'If we were to pick up long-term injuries to the striker positions then of course we would have to discuss this topic, but right now it is not the plan to do anything in January,' he said.

'We will not fall asleep, so when you work in the football business you always have to be watching if there are some opportunities to strengthen the squad. We are not different to any other club in that respect.

'In the last weeks, when Nelson was away, Marley Watkins was suspended, Josh (Murphy) had a broken toe, and there was no Alex Pritchard.

'Yes, for two or three games we are struggling (to find a striker) but in general I don't like to work with too big a group. When they are all fit it is not so good for the atmosphere.

'The players here have to feel some trust for me and if we had six strikers here it is not so easy to build that trust.

'There is a fine line between having options and enough quality and having a group where all the players are needed. We think about this decision but the plan is not to bring in new guys if we don't have to.'

Sean Raggett will be a new face in January, with the strapping centre back set to feature in City's FA Cup third round bow, before a final decision is made on whether he returns to Lincoln City on loan.

Farke must also weigh up the value of bringing the likes of Carlton Morris and Ben Godfrey back in the New Year, with the pair spearheading Shrewsbury Town's League One promotion push.

'Whenever there is an international break those lads come back here,' said Farke. 'It will depend on injuries and the rest of the squad but we have some options.

'The plan with players like Ben and Carlton was to let them go on loan for the whole season, because that is the best thing for their development to constantly play, not just a few months.'

Yes, it is an option. We have the opportunity to call them back but it depends where we are with injuries. It is too early yet.'
