Daniel Farke is adamant he is the fall guy, not the club's board, after Norwich City's 2-1 Championship defeat to Brentford.

Disgruntled fans turned their frustration on City's majority shareholders in the closing stages at Carrow Road on Friday night, but Farke is adamant there was only one person to blame.

'I blame myself, not the players,' he said.

'If there is someone who has to blamed for this result it is me. I get this feeling at the moment the public is crying for some investment.

'We have a different culture in Germany.

'If we had people who have been there in the difficult times, working with all their passion and motivation for 25 years for this club and trying to give it the best, all I can say is as a German that would be the way for me.

'Delia Smith and Michael are not responsible for this group of lads. I am responsible for what happens on the pitch. They are people who try everything to bring success to this club with all their heart.

'I got the feeling everything we did in the first half went wrong. We had so many mistakes in our passing, our first touch, our finishing, our duels.

'I got the feeling the guys were totally nervous and I had pointed out how important this game was in the build up.

'I felt it would be a complicated game. We spoke so much about being highly-motivated and aggressive. Perhaps too much.

'They were maybe nervous and not able to bring their normal performance on the pitch.

'I won't criticise my players. They were not focused on what they had to bring on the pitch. They needed to be more calm and maybe speak less about Brentford. I have other explanation for that first half.'

Nelson Oliveira pulled a late goal back but City left themselves with too much to do following Lasse Vibe's first half brace.

'A tough night. The reason we lost was the first half,' said Farke. 'Poor, weak, all the words you can find for this performance. When you play with that level it is normally determining. Brentford have proved they can score goals in this league.

'To be 2-0 down was totally deserved.

'The only positive thing was a positive reaction in the second half. If we had played on in that style it would have been four or five. We scored, had two or three really big chances but one good half is not good enough to win points.

'When you play such a poor performance, it is quite normal you lose the game. You can't always repair the damage with one half.'
