The ball is in Russell Martin's court now at Norwich City.

Scottish international Martin has been touted with a loan move to Rangers in recent days, after just seven appearances under Daniel Farke this season.

The Canaries' head coach revealed on Friday the 32-year-old had not asked for a move but the German understands his desire for first team football.

'To be honest, Russell didn't knock at my door,' he said. 'It is quite normal there is speculation because we have done without him for several weeks. Also it is important you are respectful to a player who has done so much for a club.

'When there is a time and a moment when Russ knocks on my door or Stuart (Webber's) door and wants to speak about something we will speak.

'I have said I am happy to have him in the squad. He is our club captain and important in the dressing room.

'Although he was not involved he deserves to be respected. If he has some ideas or some thoughts then it will be a conversation of trust, but he hasn't knocked on our door.'

Farke did sanction the double loan departures of keepers Remi Matthews and Paul Jones earlier this week.

Matthews has returned to Plymouth, while Exeter City-bound Jones has a chance to land a new deal elsewhere with the experienced stopper out of contract at Carrow Road in the summer.

'For him, it was a good chance,' said Farke. 'He asked us for this favour to go on loan and get some football. He is such a good guy and a brilliant character so we agreed to his wish.

'With Remi we got the feeling it helps him to play many minutes to come back in the summer in a good shape. Aston (Oxborough) will train in our group now. He will be a little bit closer to our group.'

Sean Raggett is now at his parent club after ending a loan move to Lincoln but Farke is yet to make a final call on whether the big centre back remains at Carrow Road for the rest of this season beyond the January transfer window.

'Sean's an important part of my plans – I would like to work with him in the next two or three weeks to get a feeling about how soon he can adapt to the Championship level,' he said, with Chelsea's visit coming too soon for consideration.

'We won't have a quick decision with him. It will be the end of January bur right now he is important to my ideas and we will go further on with him.'
