Norwich City must tame the man christened 'The Beast' in Wycombe's ranks.

Powerhouse striker Adebayo Akinfenwa fired Wanderers to promotion last season, and the 36-year-old is something of a cult figure in the lower leagues. Akinfenwa has his own clothing range and dreams of an acting career when he retires.

Daniel Farke revealed on Monday he had already got up close and personal with the strapping frontman at last season's Football League awards.

'James Maddison seemed to be at each and every award, player of the month, goal of the month, team of the year. For that the head coach goes to offer his support a little bit,' said Farke. 'To be honest I don't like them because I always have to wear a suit and eat a lot. It is pretty boring.

'In the team of the year for the Football League Akinfenwa was in it.

'When you seem him walking up onto the stage at first you are little bit surprised but when you analyse the games and see what he does, you must be full of respect. His performances are consistent and he is crucial to Wycombe's game.

'It is difficult to defend against him because he can protect the ball, and he is a big threat from set pieces. He is an experienced player and my lads have to be prepared.'

City have performed with distinction under Farke in the League Cup, both at the Emirates and earlier this season at Cardiff, but the homely surroundings of Adams Park present a different challenge.

'I expect a pretty tough test. We will have a few changes and when we make that many it can take time to find the game rhythm,' he said. 'There will be a lot of excitement around the place at Wycombe. They were promoted so there is also a momentum.

'They know they are probably fighting against relegation this season and it is quite normal they are not high in the table, but they are hard to beat. In the last nine games they have lost only once, perhaps you could say too many draws.

'Of course they have a chance when they are just one level below us.

'We proved in this cup anything is possible. We beat a Premier League side in the last round and we were close to beating Chelsea and Arsenal last season in the cup. We need the same level of concentration as the last few league games.'
