Daniel Farke is getting good vibes from Norwich City’s new intake.

Sam Byram became the Canaries' fourth senior signing of the summer when he sealed a move from Premier League rivals West Ham.

The 25-year-old made his bow on the club's German tour alongside Swiss international striker Josip Drmic plus loan duo Ralf Fährmann from Schalke 04 and Manchester City's Patrick Roberts.

Fährmann sat out Friday's 2-1 tour finale victory against his parent club while Drmic did not feature after a hamstring problem in the opening draw against Armina, but Farke has seen plenty of positive signs.

"Good performances. My feeling is they have adapted pretty well to this group and feel settled in," he said. "I was happy with all of them. It is easy for the new lads to settle into this dressing room with our lads but we were pretty careful to be sure of the character we were bringing in. They have to adapt to our philosophy.

"We wanted to work on many topics. First of all though the trip is about the basic fitness, of course, we also had to work on some tactical details and flexibility. "My feeling is we are at a very good fitness level and I hope the injured players come back soon so they get the workload they need. We had different tests and different tactical challenges and it was important to adapt to them.

"After we had some problems in possession (against Schalke 04) we changed our base formation and it worked.

"Sometimes you have an idea but the lads have to believe they can be flexible."

Roberts again showed his creative potential with a slide rule assist for Teemu Pukki in Lotte, but Farke counter-balanced that with his failure to prevent the Schalke 04 counter that led to an equaliser.

"He had periods during the game when he was a bit quiet but there were many periods on this tour when he looked very lively," said the Norwich head coach. "Also in the second half he created a lot.

"He has to a learn a bit perhaps in terms of making a smart tactical foul for the goal we conceded but in general I am pretty pleased with him, his personality, attitude, workload and quality he delivers."

Farke's squad returned to England on Saturday and will get some down time before stepping up their preparations in a behind-closed-doors game against Brentford.

The German believes the tone was set in the off-season.

"Most of them came back well prepared, some had to do rehab after injuries.

"We have many sessions, not just the physical but the mental load," he said. "Only if you invest now do you get the benefit in the long term. We have to be on a top level physically and tactically to prepare for the best league in the world.

"The spirit in the group is always crucial for the success. We had that last season and it will be even more important this time around, when the wind is in our face."
