Daniel Farke is not planning a ringside seat for Monday’s Sheffield derby after Norwich City turned up the heat in the Championship title race.

His side sealed a hard-fought 3-1 win at Millwall to move two points clear of Leeds, after the Whites’ emphatic Elland Road victory over West Brom on Friday briefly knocked them off top spot.

Third-placed Sheffield United need to respond at Hillsborough, when they head to Steve Bruce’s resurgent Owls, but Farke is slapping the blinkers on his soaring Canaries.

“We can’t influence what happens in Sheffield. For me we can only influence our games. We did this at Millwall,” he said. “It was good and important that some of our competitors were not able to do this.

“When I think about the distance to position seven it is a big gap. Now we have a really, really good chance to finish in the top six. Right now, we are nine points ahead of West Brom and even if Middlesbrough win their game in hand a similar points gap.

“This is important, this could be crucial. We focus on our topics.

“Big compliments to my lads. Millwall is an unbelievably tough place to come. Especially when the home side is switched on. Neil (Harris) and all his lads were excellent. This was a spotlight game against the leaders and that made it even more competitive.

“It was a tough test for us so it feels even more pleasing we withstood this test and deserved the win.”
