Daniel Farke is sick and tired of coming up short with the use of VAR after Sheffield United’s Chris Basham had his red card over-turned by the officials in Norwich City’s 2-1 Premier League defeat at Carrow Road.

Referee Simon Hooper brandished a straight red for a lunging challenge on Kenny McLean entering the final quarter but Basham earned a reprieve from the VAR officials.

Farke admitted his side were culpable for the final outcome, after Alex Tettey's first half goal was cancelled out by two goals in three early second half minutes. But more VAR controversy did nothing to improve his mood.

'It is not my topic. I don't want to speak about other people's mistakes," he said. "I would rather speak about the mistakes of my players. They were crucial. What I learnt this season is each and every VAR decision or over-rule is a disaster for us.

"Each decision is against us. I can't explain why and I don't accuse anyone. Of course it would have made a huge difference to play the last 20 minutes against 10 men. It would have changed the game completely.

"If it was a 100pc clear and obvious mistake from the referee and it is not a red card then my feeling is we have to accept it. But watching from the touchline it was not a clear and obvious mistake.

"In any game I have been involved in there has not been an over-turned red card.

"The VAR have labelled the referee's decision poor. But I will only criticise our mistakes. I don't expect any VAR decision will go in our favour.

"We know Sheffield use throws to create quick crossing situations. But we were not switched on in this moment. Another topic was after the throw in the wide player always attacks the far post. We had to jump to at least disturb the header. To concede was so tough to take. A simple move. It shouldn't even be a chance.

"The second goal we had so many bodies in our box and the wing back is able to score with his back to the goal. For two mistakes, it changed the game and the outcome and we are very disappointed."
