The wait is nearly over for Norwich City fans to catch a glimpse of exciting young South American talent Emi Buendia.

The highly-rated 21-year-old attacker is the only summer signing yet to feature during pre-season after joining his new club from Getafe with a calf issue.

Buendia has been working on a separate fitness programme with the club's sports science staff since arriving in England, but is in Germany and may make his debut in the final tour friendly against VfL Wolfsburg later this week.

Buendia, along with Grant Hanley and Ivo Pinto, stayed back at the Canaries' training base for further fitness sessions during Sunday's opening 3-2 tour win over SC Paderborn.

City face Union Berlin on Tuesday in their second friendly, but head coach Daniel Farke is prepared to resist any temptation to fast-track the trio into his plans.

'Whether we involve all three in the games over here I am not too sure about.

'That might be a bit risky,' he said. 'They were all out on the training pitch with boots on since we have been here and we hope they can return pretty soon.

'When we played Paderborn I had some very good reports about the work they had done.

'All the boys out here know what pre-season is all about. Hard work and getting fit for the league.

'The lads were exhausted after a double session on Saturday but to come back from 2-0 down tells you about attitude and character and the mentality. 'Results are not that important but to show you are not happy to be losing is a good mentality.'
