Norwich City are braced for further interest in prized playmaker Alex Pritchard, after seeing Huddersfield Town test their resolve early in the January transfer window.

While no firm bids were lodged by the Premier League side, it is understood the Yorkshire side would be keen to add the 24-year-old to their attacking options.

It seems City's resolve to only sell their in-demand stars for big money has scared the Terriers off for the time being but it's likely that other top-flight clubs are monitoring Pritchard's situation.

Huddersfield have made an impressive start to their first return to English football's top table in 45 years, sitting 11th with 16 games of the campaign remaining.

However, David Wagner's side are only four points clear of the relegation zone in a very congested bottom half of the Premier League, having scored just 18 goals in 35 matches, and have seen attacking midfielder Kasey Palmer recalled by parent club Chelsea.

The Terriers are one of eight teams averaging less than a goal a game, who could do with a creative player such as Pritchard to help make sure they hold on to their place in the planet's wealthiest league.

Swansea and West Brom are also struggling badly for goals, as are former City boss Chris Hughton's Brighton, who thought they were about to secure Pritchard's signature in August 2016, only for Norwich to swoop and seal an £8.5million deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Having missed a month at the start of last season due to a side strain, the former England Under-21 international didn't start to show his true colours until manager Alex Neil left in March, scoring six goals and creating another seven in 35 games in total.

Pre-season ankle ligament damage also affected Pritchard this season, returning in late November and scoring his first goal in a 2-0 win at Birmingham on Boxing Day. He also created Josh Murphy's goal with a sublime pass that day and repeated the trick for James Maddison's winner against Millwall on New Year's Day.

As City fans revel in the tenacious attacker hitting top form, it remains to be seen whether any Premier League side have been impressed enough to tempt City with a big offer during the January transfer window.
