Conference Premier side Cambridge United will host the Canaries in a pre-season friendly at the Abbey Stadium on Wednesday, July 31 (7:45pm).

City are scheduled to face Championship club Brighton the previous night on the south coast but United's official web site claims Norwich will send a strong side to take on Richard Money's hosts. The Canaries are also set to travel to Portugal later that same week to face Braga after returning from their US tour the previous week.

Money is looking forward to his squad testing themselves against a City line up that could see former United youth product John Ruddy make a return to his first club.

'It's an honour to play against a Premier League team and in this case, it's even more of an honour as it's against a local Premier League side,' Money told Cambridge's official site. 'It's a great opportunity for the players and even more of an opportunity for the supporters to see our new squad playing at home for the first time and the chance to see some top quality Premier League players in action.

'The fact that it is late in pre-season, so close to both teams starting their campaigns, means that there is a commitment from both teams to make it a really competitive game. Norwich have a big squad and I'm sure Chris Hughton will bring the strongest team that he can.'

City wrap up their senior friendly programme with home games the following week against Real Sociedad and Panathinaikos.
