Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton is reportedly targeting former Norwich City loanee Ritchie de Laet.
The defender, who was originally signed on a season-long loan from Manchester United, returned to Old Trafford in January after failing to shake off a persistent back injury.
The Belgian made just three appearances for City – but could now be given at chance at St Andrew's as Championship promotion challengers Birmingham look to gain cover for full-back Stephen Carr, who is troubled by a knee problem.
Birmingham are currently fifth in the Championship, eight points off leaders Southampton.
