The glow of a Boxing Day win has brought some welcome relief for Norwich City fans, beating bottom-of-the-table Birmingham 2-0 away from home.
Goals from Alex Pritchard and Josh Murphy saw the Canaries earn just their second win in 12 games, to bounce back from a disappointing display during Friday's 2-1 home defeat to Brentford.
The three points ease the pressure on head coach Daniel Farke, moving 11 points clear of the relegation zone, which had reduced to a worrying eight points ahead of the trip to St Andrew's.
City remain 11 points adrift of the play-off positions, rising a place in the Championship table to 15th, but can travel to Burton on Saturday reinforced by returning players finding form at St Andrew's.
Albion were beaten 2-1 at home by Leeds to remain a point better off than the bottom three, giving Farke's team another decent opportunity to head into 2018 with spirits on the up, if they can keep up their performance levels.
