Ex-Canary Elliott Bennett thanked Norwich City fans for the reception he received at Carrow Road.

The 28-year-old was a popular figure during his time at City, but struggled with injuries and started just 35 league games in four and a half years. But he built up a good rapport with Canaries fans for the effort he put in on the pitch and his good-natured character off it.

'Thanks to all Norwich City FC fans for the reception,' he wrote on Twitter after the game. 'Much appreciated and good luck for the rest of the season and beyond.'

Bennett played the full 90 minutes at Carrow Road on Saturday, starting the game on the right flank but playing the final minutes in the right-back position – a role he undertook on occasion when a City player.

'In the end disappointed not to come away with all three points,' he added on Twitter. 'Signs of the progress we are making. Thanks to travelling fans, massive effort.'
