All out attack is Norwich City's policy for Championship promotion.

Alex Neil's squad delivered a statement of intent in a 4-1 demolition of Blackburn on the opening day and Neil promises there is more where that came from.

'We are not accepting just going into a game trying to nick a point, we want to attack every game and see where that takes us in the league,' he said.

'When you have a season where you don't achieve what you set out to do then the players get called into question, I get called into question and rightly so. That is the way it goes in football but we have responded.

'We have shown we are up for the challenge and we want to go and fight and do as well as we can. Ultimately people who say they don't get affected by the criticism wouldn't be telling the truth, because with social media these days they are going to be aware of what is being said.'

Neil believes cut-throat competition can help the Canaries' maintain their standards. The Scot fielded a strong side in a Colney practice match earlier this week that featured the likes of Euro 2016 duo Robbie Brady and Michael McGovern.

The Northern Irish keeper had to settle for a watching brief at Ewood Park following his recent summer move, but the City chief wants plenty of selection dilemmas for Saturday's televised Carrow Road opener against Sheffield Wednesday.

'One of the big things that played against Michael was he had only really been in the building for the best part of a week and a half,' said Neil. 'That didn't help his cause but I am sure over the course of the season John will know he has to be on his toes and perform as well as he can and if he is under-performing then like any other position in the team it will go to the guy who deserves to play.'
