Norwich City's on loan players endured mixed fortunes at the weekend – none more so than defender Jens Berthel Askou.

Askou was sent off 72 minutes into his Millwall debut – a 4-2 defeat at Leicester – with referee Eddie Ilderton showing him a straight red for a challenge on Richie Wellens.

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett said: 'The sending-off killed the game. We conceded a goal straight from a free-kick which followed and that made it 4-2.'

Jackett felt the Dane's red card was harsh. He said: 'As the player's come in, it's a block – he's just blocked the way forward. But the referee at that time had just given a penalty for us, hadn't given a penalty against us and then as soon as there was anything slightly contentious, he couldn't wait to get the red card out. That was my first impression.

'I will look at it again and make a proper assessment of the incident but as soon as the crowd were baying, I didn't think he was going to do anything else.'

If Millwall decide not to appeal it means a three-game ban for the Dane, who is only at The New Den for a month.

Owain Tudur Jones played the full 90 minutes of Brentford's 2-1 defeat at Oldham, while Matt Gill played 68 minutes for Walsall, who were beaten 2-1 at his old club Exeter.

Striker Oli Johnson made his Yeovil debut, coming on as a 63rd-minute sub in a 1-0 home defeat by Rochdale.

Luke Daley made a winning debut for Stevenage, coming on after 64 minutes of the 2-0 home win over Morecambe, while Cody McDonald played all of Gillingham's 1-1 draw at Torquay.

Tom Adeyemi had a blank weekend, with Bradford's home game against Burton Albion postponed because of a frozen pitch.
