Daniel Farke is singing from the same hymn sheet as Norwich City fans who want to try and entice Angus Gunn back to Carrow Road next season.

Gunn was feted by supporters during the second half of Wes Hoolahan's swansong against Leeds United last weekend in what could potentially be a last home game for the boyhood Canary.

The 22-year-old will return to parent club Manchester City in the summer, after proving he is one of the best young keepers in the country during an impressive season-long loan stint.

'To be honest I like the song very much. It is a nice song and I was quite close to joining in during the second half,' said Farke.

'We know we have some really good lads here and it is important to keep our key players.

'We can't pressure them, not in any way, not with financial pressure or arguments. No chance. We'll see how it works out.'

Farke admitted there had been one or two signs of vulnerability from Gunn in the closing weeks of his breakthrough season.

The highly-rated England Under-21 keeper was punished for costly errors against QPR on Easter Monday and the home defeat to promotion-chasing Cardiff City, but that only served to underline how good he has been in Farke's view.

'For me, maybe the first 30 or 35 games no mistakes. He saved us many, many points and he was outstanding. Perhaps you got the feeling towards the end there was some tiredness, it has been a long season for him and he had to struggle against these feelings.

'Not just for his club but during each international break he was there for the England Under-21s or even one time called into the senior squad.

'It was a big load and to show that mentality and strong nerve was outstanding. I told him directly after the (Leeds) game he has had a brilliant season.'
