Former Norwich City midfielder Andy Hughes has left his role as under-23s boss at Premier League Sheffield United.

Hughes, 42, joined the Blades last August, replacing Travis Binnion, who had also doubled up as Academy Manager.

A veteran of more than 500 senior games, Hughes had previously been first-team coach at Huddersfield Town.

Hughes posted a farewell message to the Blades on social media.

“I’d like to thank everyone [at United] from the top class manager, first team coaches and staff, academy coaches and players, all the way down to the U9 coach and staff at Shirecliffe, for my time,” Hughes said. “I wish the club well for the future.”

Hughes joined Norwich from Reading in July 2005 for around £500,000, starting 63 league games and scoring twice before leaving for Leeds United on August, 2007
