'Let's finish the job' is Alex Neil's New Year message to his Norwich City players and supporters.

The Canaries embark on 2016 looking to retain their Premier League status after picking up six points from nine over the festive period to pull clear of the bottom three at the halfway mark.

'We are 15th, we have done okay but we can do better,' said Neil. 'The aim now is to try and get to the 40 point mark as quickly as possible and then if you do that you can re-assess your goals. We are coming to terms and learning that we can't dominate every game, but we can hang in there and pose a threat going forward. The first 10 or 11 games of the season we dominated a lot of the possession and controlled matches, but in recent weeks we have accepted that is not always going to be the case and we have adapted.'

Neil admits the top flight has proved a sharp learning curve after leading the Canaries to a memorable promotion triumph.

'The Premier League poses you a lot more questions. When everything is going well I am not sure how much you learn. You just keep tagging along and trying to keep that momentum,' he said. 'I feel I have learned a lot in these four months and I have said the same to the players. You enjoy the test because you learn more about yourself and the team and you need to adapt and find a way to be successful and win games at this level. That learning curve in the last six months has been huge.'

Neil had two personal highlights from 2015.

'I'm pleased I got my opportunity to manage in England and also that we got promoted, in such a great setting as Wembley,' he said. 'Getting the job and Wembley were my two highlights of 2015 but I am hoping we can have more this coming year. At the moment, we have done okay this season and I would be looking to improve on that.'
