Norwich City will travel to newly-promoted Wolves in a televised fixture on the first weekend of the new Championship season on Sunday August 10. (Kick off 4pm)

Neil Adams' squad have been handed a difficult trip to the Black Country before hosting Watford at Carrow Road in their first league game on August 16.

City supporters only have to wait until August 23 for the first derby tussle with a trip to Portman Road before Ipswich make the return journey on February 28 next year.

The Canaries' complete their regular season programme at home to fellow relegated side Fulham on May 2. Adams knows City can not afford a sluggish start in their bid for an instant top flight return.

'Some people will say they are quite tough opening fixtures but I expect all of the games to be tough,' he told the club's official site. 'What we're about is getting people to look at when they are playing us and saying 'that will be a tough one'. We are certainly looking forward to it and we'll be approaching every game with confidence.

'Molineux is always a tough place to go and of course the local derby comes pretty early on as well. It's up to us to be on our toes and ready for those games and all of the rest. The fact that the game has been chosen for live TV coverage shows what an exciting match it is for us to start our season. It's a good game and an opportunity for us to showcase what we are about.

'Once again our fantastic fans will have their part to play and with their help we want to make Carrow Road a very difficult place to come to, as it has been in previous seasons.'

In other notable opening day Championship fixtures, Ipswich will host the Cottagers in another televised fixture on Saturday August 9 with Cardiff City travelling to Blackburn. Losing Championship play-off finalists Derby County start at home to newly-promoted Rotherham United and Wigan tackle Reading.
