Norwich City have signed highly-rated Newcastle United midfielder Matthew Pattison on loan until the new year.
The South African born 21-year-old has been with the Magpies since joining their academy at the age of 14. The loan deal will end on January 1, with Pattison's current contract at Newcastle due to expire in the summer.
Pattison has made 15 appearances for Newcastle since he was handed his debut by then Magpies boss Glenn Roeder against Everton in February 2006. His last appearance for Newcastle's first-team came against Watford on the final day of last season.
He becomes Roeder's second loan signing since taking charge of the Canaries just over two weeks ago, and the City boss told the club's official website: “He's a tough lad, the right sort for where we are now. He doesn't know how to lose.”
