Both Diss and North Walsham face tough fixtures against high-flying London One North title challengers tomorrow.

Diss host second-placed Eton Manor and Walsham, on a hot streak of five successive victories, travel to north-east London to take on third-placed Chingford.

There was plenty of effort and determination from the Diss players during their 39-10 home defeat to leaders Westcliff last week, but a number of significant injuries to key players were also picked up.

Junior Horne and Ali Abercrombie have returned to the fold recently and this week also sees the return of Deaglan Hall following a nasty injury against Tabard.

Diss director of rugby, Paul Cochrane, said: 'Eton Manor have always been an abrasive and competitive side, so we are expecting another tough encounter.

'Sooner or later our luck is going to change and we shall be successful. Key fixtures in the new year are already being discussed and highlighted as crucial in our league campaign.

'Let's get behind the boys again this week and give them every opportunity to succeed on the pitch.'

Walsham have now moved up to eighth in the table, bouncing back from a shaky start which saw them lose four of their opening six matches.

The Vikings will need to continue the high standards they have set in recent weeks if they are to keep their good form going though, as Chingford have the same record as leaders Westcliff and Eton Manor with nine wins and two defeats, lagging behind only because they have five fewer bonus points than the former and a poorer points difference than the latter.

Vikings coach Nick Greenhall has been able to enjoy fielding a stable side in recent weeks.

Unfortunately that stability has taken a knock this week. Hooker Matt Oakes has to take a week off for personal reasons so Mark McCall, who had the benefit of a run with the Raiders last week, will contest the starting berth with Tom Browes, with whoever loses out heading for the bench or a spell with the Raiders.

Influential flanker Chris Godwin pulled up last week with a groin strain and is doubtful so Will Martin could make an appearance.

The youngster from Dorset, who has been working at Taverham Hall School, has made a big impact during his time at Scottow playing mostly for the Raiders, and will be missed when his time in Norfolk comes to an end.

Behind the pack scrum-half Dean Blyth could return to the bench or starting lineup and Chad Seeley is also likely to be in Greenhall's thoughts as wing Will Quinn took a knock against Tabard. Both Blyth and Seeley scored hat-tricks for the Raiders last Saturday.
