Norfolk’s Under-15 girls’ squash team were recently crowned the national Intercounty Trophy champions.

The final was fought between Norfolk, Northumbria, Essex and Sussex, who had England ranked players, one and six players in their team. Two semi-finals were played and followed by a third/fourth place play-off and the final match.

Norfolk went into the competition confident that they could hold their own, however Sussex were seen as a big threat due to the two highly-ranked players in their team. Thanks to a strong performance by Essex, Sussex were defeated and had to play-off for 3/4th placings against Northumbria, who despite taking some early matches, were beaten by Norfolk 3-2.

The final was against a competitive and well supported Essex team and again they started their first two matches very strong. The team managed to come back from two matches down to win the final 3-2.
