Norfolk's Alfie Hewett has won a third successive Wimbledon wheelchair doubles title.

Hewett and partner Gordon Reid beat Germany's Joachim Gerard and Swede Stefan Olsson 6-1 6-4 to take the trophy on Saturday (July 14).

The victory marked an eighth Grand Slam doubles title for Reid, 26, and a fourth for Hewett, 20.

Speaking to the BBC, Hewett said: 'Every year to come back and win it, it's tougher each year. People kind of expect you just to win it. We know that's not the case.

'There's a lot of strong guys out there. Yesterday's match and even today's match kind of proved how strong the field is.'

Earlier, Hewett suffered defeat to defending champion Olsson in the singles semi-finals.

The world number two had beaten Olsson eight times in their 10 previous meetings but lost to him at the Australian Open and was outplayed in a 6-2 6-4 defeat.
