New appointments made to try to boost Norfolk's membership and sponsorship potential will be confirmed at tomorrow's county cricket club annual meeting.

The new chairman of the promotions, sponsorship and development sub-committee will be Richard Wright, who will join the club's executive committee.

He will be supported on the promotions sub-committee by Ian Clarke – of Saffron Marketing, the company that developed Norfolk's new website – who will be responsible for marketing and communications.

Norfolk incurred a loss of 4,942 this year compared to a small surplus of 1,012 in 2009.

Membership income was down slightly from 14,310 to 13,885, but the major shortfall was a reduction in the Minor Counties Cricket Association handout from 31,620 to 27,506.

Club chairman Graham Littlewood said in his chairman's report: 'We have already started a number of initiatives to increase the membership of the club, thereby bringing in much-needed revenue.'

The main officers are all standing for re-election, while George Walker's appointment as Norfolk captain for 2011 will be rubber-stamped at the meeting.

The 26-year-old Swardeston left-arm spinner takes over from Carl Rogers, who stepped down at the end of last season after three years in the role.

Walker, who has played seven first-class matches for Leicestershire, made his Norfolk debut in 2000 and captained the county for all three festival games last summer when Rogers was out injured.

Presentations will also be made to the player of the season and young player of the season.

The meeting will be held at Manor Park, Horsford, at 10.30am.
