Norfolk Seniors recorded a stunning upset over Northants at Thetford in a match twice interrupted by thunder and lightning.
Undefeated in Anglian League play for over two and a half years, the visitors started off strongly, but were pegged back by the hosts, who led by 3-2 at lunch. The morning points came from David Pattrick and John Tavener, Mark Skipper and Ian Hogg and Mike Horley and Doug Gilchrist.
The afternoon singles saw some tremendous golf, especially from Adrian Myhill who recorded six birdies and an eagle to just close out his match on the 17th. Winners morning and afternoon were David Pattrick, Mark Skipper, Mike Horley and Doug Gilchrist and Rob Webb chipped in with a fine 6/5 afternoon win as Norfolk ran out winners by 9½-5½.
Norfolk, after an early loss to Suffolk, have now steadied the ship with fine back-to-back victories.
The match against Lincoln at Seacroft on September 4 could be a title decider.
