In the singles, there is a mixture of youth and experience with three former winners and two former finalists making up the field. The quarter-finals will be held at Swaffham Town BC on Friday, and the ties include Norfolk's latest Junior International, Wayne Willgress of Norfolk Bowling Club, taking on Simon Elliott of Acle St Edmund. Former county Under-25 champion John Tufts of Hingham Rectory plays Peter Boldero of Downham Market, two-time winner Philip Barr of County Arts faces Liam Stevenson of Hunstanton EBA and the final tie sees seven-time winner John Ottaway of Wymondham Dell play former winner David Brawn of North Walsham EBA.

The pairs quarter-finals will be played today as follows: at Norfolk Bowling Club -Max Harrison and Peter Boldero (Downham Market) v Marty Long and Graham Potter (North Walsham), John Hunter and Michael Hunter (RG Carters) v Alan Rowsell and Paul Webb (Acle St Edmund), David Last and Eric Rawsthorne (Diss and District) v Sam King and Jamie Chestney (Hunstanton EBA).

At Wymondham Dell - Matt Flatman and Mark Flatman (Wymondham Dell) v Charlie Boon and Philip Day (Norfolk BC).

The Triples quarter-finals will be played on Thursday, at RG Carters BC as follows: A Morter, R Summers and B Perrett (Norfolk BC) v W Langley, M Double and J Alflatt (Downham Conservatives), T Colcombe, A Dunton and A Seabourne (Acle St Edmund) v T Bingham, J Wright and D Betts (Thetford GW Staniforth), S Adcock, D Richmond and J Ottaway (Wymondham Dell) v B Hunt. G Potter and T Webb (North Walsham), S Winter, J Flowers and V Hudson (Wootton Park) v R Dodd, G Kynock and S Ellis (Cawston).

The quarter-final ties in the under-25 singles are: M Harrison (Downham Market) v J Tufts (Hingham Rectory), J Willgress (Norfolk BC) v Mark Flatman (Wymondham Dell), S King (Hunstanton EBA) v N Watson (Watton Loch Neaton), W Willgress (Norfolk BC) v A Watts (County Arts).

These ties will be played next Tuesday at North Walsham EBA BC, with the exception of the first listed tie which will be played on an earlier date.

In the Bales Cup quarter-finals, Cromer continued their giant killing with victory over Hunstanton and in the semi-final they will play Norfolk Bowling Club, who overcame Wymondham Dell. In the other semi-final St Lawrence, winners over Swardeston Social, play County Arts, victors over Ashill. Both semi-finals will be played on Friday, July 9.

The inter-club Jermy Cup has also reached the quarter-final stages, with ties to be played this Sunday and the quarter-final ties are: St Lawrence v County Arts, Attleborough Connaught v Ashill, RG Carter v Freethorpe, Downham Market v Norfolk BC.

Norfolk bowed out in the regional finals of the National Inter County Two Fours Championship on Sunday to Cambridgeshire on the Newmarket Avenue BC green.

The rink of John Ottaway, George Tubby, Wayne Willgress and Philip Barr were always in control, winning 27-13.

However the other rink of Steffan Adcock, Mark Turner, Mervyn King and Jamie Chestney had a difficult time going down

8-27, so Norfolk lost the match by five shots.
