Norfolk's women's team take centre stage at Manor Park on Sunday when they take on Netherlands.

After promotion to Division Three of the Royal London Women's Championship, Norfolk have lost their first three matches of the campaign.

The season started with a 64-run loss to Scotland at Fakenham and was followed by a 10-run loss at Gloucestershire and a 57-run defeat in Cheshire.

'It's been tough for the girls so far but we were under no illusions that it wouldn't be,' team manager Kevin Denmark said.

'The first game against Scotland was always going to be tough against a national team but we gave a good account of ourselves. Then it was at Gloucestershire the next day and that was a bit of an eye-opener.

'Then Cheshire in our third game, we really should have beaten them. We had them at 50 for five but let them get up to 184 and that was too much for us to chase.

'They shouldn't have got anywhere near that though so we were quite heartened by that game, but we know it's going to be hard at this level.'

After winning the Division Four title last season, winning five of their eight matches, Norfolk are keen to get back into their winning habit quickly.

Denmark admits they are not too sure what to expect from Netherlands though, continuing: 'They've played two and lost both so far, so we're hoping there might be an opportunity for us to get off the mark. But in terms of the standard we're not too sure, we're only really going off their scorecards and sometimes they can be a bit false. Gloucestershire had been bowled out for 35 the day before they played us, so that stats aren't always reliable!'

With Norfolk's men starting their three-day season away at Cambridgeshire, it is hoped a decent crowd will watch the women's match.

'All the Norfolk County Board members had a note about this game with their annual renewals and with the first team away at Wisbech we're hoping that people will come along to see what women's cricket is all about,' Denmark added.

'In our first game at Fakenham there were a good few there and a few people said to me that they were amazed by the standard.'

Admission for the match is free on Sunday, with play scheduled to start at 11am.
