Will Harrold is latest Norfolk golfer to have travelled halfway round the world to play in a tournament.

Last month Jack Yule jetted out to Argentina to compete in the South African Amateur Championship, a 14,000-mile round trip, and now Harrold has notched up 10,000 air miles to play in a professional event Bangladesh.

Having recently earned his card for the Asian Tour after a solid show in a qualifying event in Thailand, Harrold entered the Bashundhara Bangladesh Open at Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka.

His fine show at Tour School has opened up exciting new doors for the Sheringham professional, but as it turned out his opening event of the 2017 campaign was not one to remember.

Harrold didn't play badly by any means, but rounds of 73 and 74 saw him miss the halfway cut by two shots on five order par. There were plenty of birdies over the two rounds – seven in all – but 10 bogeys and a double put paid to his challenge.
