Dan Zelos once again belied his rookie status as the fiercely-contested 2014 Ginetta Junior Championship travelled to Croft, tallying a third podium finish of what has so far been a remarkable maiden car racing campaign.
The Norfolk ace claimed sixth on the race one grid – but he was tagged into an early spin that he had to settle for a recovery drive to 13th, with an apology from his assailant.
Sunday's race saw Dereham-based Zelos secure an excellent podium – his third from just 10 races – lifting the 16-year-old Northgate High School student to joint-fifth in the championship and tied for top rookie honours, heading into the summer break. That's two points adrift of fourth overall and less than a victory shy of second.
'This is way beyond what I had been hoping for,' said Zelos, with the next round at Snetterton next month. 'Being my home circuit, that will be my most important weekend of the season so far.'
