Norfolk's women have been boosted by new sponsorship deal for what promises to be an exciting season.

The team are being backed by local independent financial advisors Finance Shop as they take on other counties in the East region in Division 3D of ECB Royal London One Day Cup while also competing in the National T20 competition.

'We are delighted to be partnered with Finance Shop,' said Norfolk Cricket development director Kieron Tuck. 'This summer we have high hopes for the squad with the continued development of young players into the adult team over a period of years.

'The generous support from Finance Shop has allowed the team to be kitted out in eye-catching new coloured kit and to further develop their skills with additional training sessions.'

Norfolk began their campaign with narrow defeats to Suffolk and Cambridgeshire in the 40-over ECB Championship before kick-starting their season with a tense four wicket win over Lincolnshire.

The standout bowling performances were identical figures of 3-16 for Anoushka Williamson and Robyn Edge while in the chase there were scores of 33 from captain Emily Woodhouse, 28 from Beth Harmer and 25 not out from Peggy Tirimanna.

The next fixture is against Cambridgeshire on Sunday (11am) at Cromer, with admission free, as it is for all Norfolk women's games. A full fixture list is available at www.norfolkcricket.co.uk

Norfolk also have U-13, U-15 and U-17 girls squads playing in county competition and plans are in place for an U-11 team in 2019.

Meanwhile the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League reverts to its traditional format at the weekend after starting with a series of 50 overs per side matches.

Mildenhall and Sudbury lead the way on 82 points after three wins and wash-out but Swardeston are only 18 points adrift after notching up successive wins of their own. They visit Copdock while the other fixtures involving Norfolk sides are: Burwell & Exning v Vauxhall Mallards, Norwich v Cambridge Granta (at Postwick), Sudbury v Horsford and Frinton v Great Witchingham.
