Norfolk County Cricket Club still waiting for action as weekend action is washed out

Norfolk are still waiting to kick off their MCCA Knockout Trophy campaign after another weather wipeout yesterday.

George Walker's side were due to take on Suffolk at Manor Park in Group Two, but after heavy overnight rain, play was abandoned following a pitch inspection at 8.15am.

The other scheduled game in Norfolk's group yesterday, between Wiltshire and Shropshire, was also called off.

Norfolk, whose opening match against Shropshire was also abandoned, complete their group fixtures with a Bank Holiday weekend double header. On Sunday they travel to Woodhall Spa to play Lincolnshire, before facing Wiltshire at Manor Park on Monday.

The top two teams in each of the four groups progress to the quarter-finals.

* It was a similar story for club sides across the county on Saturday, as the entire league programme was washed out.

There was no play in the East Anglian Premier League, the Norfolk Alliance, the Norfolk League or the West Norfolk League.
