Norfolk is celebrating a fifth medal from one of its Commonwealth Games athletes – after shooter Aaron Heading claimed silver in the men's shotgun trap.
The 27-year-old, who was born in King's Lynn but lives just across the Lincolnshire border in Long Sutton, finished in first place in the discipline's second qualifying heat this morning.
He then finished second in the semi-finals to set up a clash with Australia's Adam Vella in the gold medal match.
With both men faced with 15 targets, Vella was successful with 11 shots but Heading hit two less, to walk away with the silver medal.
The narrow defeat meant Heading lost his Commonwealth title, after winning gold in the trap at Delhi 2010. He also won bronze in the pairs alongside David Kirk four years ago but decided to stick to the singles this time.
The silver medal means Norfolk athletes have now won five medals.
Colin Oates claimed judo gold, Laura Massaro and James Willstrop won singles squash silvers and Mick Gault won bronze in the 10-metre air pistol.
It means the county would sit 15th in the Commonwealth medals table, ahead of Cameroon with three medals, both Northern Ireland and Pakistan, who have two so far, and another 12 countries.
