Nine teams have still got something to play for as the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division gears up for a dramatic final day.

Only Downham Town and Fakenham can win the title on the last weekend of 2014, but seven clubs remain mathematically in danger of being relegated. While realistically basement boys Lowestoft Town are gone – barring a miracle – even fourth-placed Diss could drop out of the top-flight if a number of results go against them and second-from-bottom North Runcton pick up the maximum 25 points.

Although Diss' safety is not under too much threat, only Cromer can enjoy a stress-free last outing of a campaign that has come down to a dramatic conclusion. Downham, top, host Lowestoft as they look to win their first championship in four years while Fakenham – six points adrift – will be hoping to pounce on any slip-ups by winning at home to Runcton.

Downham skipper Duncan Lanchester said: 'We know what we need to do and hopefully we'll do that. We need to spark our batting up a bit. We've been a bit lax and played some stupid shots (in defeat to Runcton last week). I don't know whether that was a lack of respect or good bowling.

'These sort of games are what you play for. I just hope the weather doesn't curtail it all.'

Runcton are just four points from safety yet are up against it with a daunting trip to Fakenham. Old Buckenham, hovering just above the danger zone, are at Swardeston A – who could get dragged into things even though they have 206 points. Ashmanhaugh & Barton Wanderers, only two points better off than the Bucks, host Cromer. Sprowston have an 11-point cushion over Runcton and host Diss.

There are a host of other title and relegation battles going on elsewhere across the organisation's leagues, including in Division Two where Great Witchingham A and Dereham can both still win the title.
