While some managers are all too happy for their side to get a weekend off at this time of year, it would be fair to say that Wisbech Town boss Gary Setchell isn't one of them.
Wisbech were scheduled to play host to leaders Newport Pagnell Town in a top-of-the-table United Counties League Premier Division showdown last Saturday, but the wet weather left parts of the Elgoods Fenland Stadium pitch unplayable and forced the match to be called off just under an hour before it was due to kick-off.
As a result of that postponement and other sides around them in the table picking up points in recent days, the Fenmen have slipped from second to fifth.
Setchell is looking forward to returning to action when he takes his side to Northampton ON Chenecks tomorrow (3pm) and the Wisbech boss knows three points are a must.
'We can't afford to let last weekend affect us,' he said. 'It was frustrating and disappointing as we wanted the game on.
'We were all really up for it and it was all set to be a great game, we wanted to close the gap on Pagnell but it wasn't to be.
'We know other sides around us picked up points last weekend, so it is really important we are on it from the first whistle against Chenecks. We can't afford any slip-ups.
'Having games in hand is fine but you have got to get the points on the board. If not they aren't worth anything.
'There are no easy games in this league and we are expecting this to be another tough one.
'Every game between now and the end of the season is a cup tie for us and we can't drop points if we want to stay in the title race.'
The postponement of the Pagnell game denied Jordan Yong a farewell Fenmen appearance. The left-back, who also played under Setchell at King's Lynn Town, has now departed to play professionally in Malaysia.
He has joined Melaka United in the Premier League of the Far East nation.
