Newcomers going strong

Norfolk BC A are the early pacesetters in Division One of the Norfolk CIBA Bowls League after an 80 shots to 74 home win over Gallow A, whose Jamie Chestney skipped his rink to a top scoring 29-8.

Lynnsport A continued their impressive start to life in the top flight by winning by 101-76 at Lakeside A with Stephen Winter's rink winning 33-13.

Acle A began the defence of their title by edging out County Arts A 76-74 with Tony Dunton's rink winning 23-18. Diss A lost 92-74 at home to Wymondham A with the home team's John Ottaway winning 30-15.

Having notched their first win in Division Two, Browston A were brought down to earth at Pinewood Park A where, despite winning on three rinks, they lost 86-72 overall. The rink of Keith Medlar (30-11) made the difference. Pentney A beat Hunstanton 93-60 (R Joplin 25-8), while County Arts B and Acle B drew 75-75.

Old Hall top Division Three after their second win of the season, 91-66 at Wymondham B while Brecks A beat Dereham A 94-70.

The first games in Division Five saw Gallow B beat Dereham B 107-64 and Lynnsport B beat Roundwood B 98-65.
