New Heacham Manor captain Simon King teed off his big year in style by recording a hole-in-one.
Playing the day after the club's annual meeting, when his appointment was confirmed, King lit up the Saturday Medal by acing the course's seventh hole.
It was the first of two holes-in-one on the day, with fellow competitor Keith Price following suit on the 17th.
Past captains Aaron Daly and Rachel Hodgkinson had earlier presented a cheque to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Excel Appeal for £1,882.63, the sum raised during their terms of office. It will pay for a specialist, adjustable Hydrotilt recliner chair for the Gayton Ward.
Meanwhile David Cox has taken over as captain at Searles Golf Club, with Mike Trebbick the seniors' captain. The annual meeting also saw a cheque for £4,400 presented to the 2016 captains' charity, Norfolk Accident Rescue Services. The donation has enabled NARS to buy a portable ultrasound machine.
