Magpies' four-match winning run was ended as they were held to a draw by bottom side Horsham in the Women's Conference East at Weybread on Saturday.

The hosts attacked with pace and confidence and created a number of goalscoring opportunities early in the game.

The Horsham defence struggled to cope with the speed and skill of the Magpies forward line of Brooks, Palmer, Wheelhouse and Wilford but the home side were unable to make their dominance count.

Magpies failed to convert a penalty stoke they were awarded when player of the match Hannah Palmer was unfairly prevented from shooting at goal by the Horsham keeper.

But they eventually took the lead in the 33rd minute as Angie Wheelhouse scored her 100th National League goal for Magpies with a clinical finish from a penalty corner. Wheelhouse is only the fifth player in the country to score 100 goals in the Women's National League, with 79 coming in open play and 21 from penalty corners.

Horsham continued to defend in numbers and frustrate the Magpies forwards and in the 56th minute, a poor clearance went straight to a Horsham player, and Heidi Menniss levelled the score despite the efforts of the Magpies defence to clear the ball off the line.

Magpies continued to surge forward in numbers but were not able to break down a determined Horsham defence who survived three penalty corners and a goal-line clearance to make sure they left Weybread with a valuable point.
